Work files keep piling up, local storage fills fast, and commercial cloud services aren't always an option for sensitive content. I ended up deploying Nextcloud on a spare machine — add disks whenever storage runs low, connect over VPN from anywhere, roll back any file to an earlier version, and later hooked it into a local RAG system. It does a lot more than I expected.
